Bader and Reid dive back into the series as things start to heat up in the dual meet. We get some background on so many of the wrestlers who grew up competing and training together in the Iowa wrestling circuit. Many of them became friends in little league and remain close to this day.
On the mat, Iowa State lead Iowa 16-5 but Iowa had big hitters taking to the mat in Marty Kistler, Ricco Chiapparelli and Duane Goldman who all won at least one NCAA title for the Hawkeyes. On the other side for Iowa State were Mike Van Arsdale and Eric Voelker who both won at least one title for the Cyclones.
Iowa uses three straight victories with two major decisions to bring the dual meet to a tie score as they move to the final match of the evening.
