Listen "The National Coroner Service Act: Whose Act?"
Episode Synopsis
The National Coroner Service Act 2017 availed an opportunity for independent forensic documentation and reporting by qualified pathologists in the case of extrajudicial killings by police. It hasn't yielded much fruit though and as panellists; activist Njoki Gachanja, state pathologist Johannssen Oduor, lawyer Kariuki Karanja, state legal advisor Emily Chweya, and police oversight director David Nderitu attest, a lot remains to be desired in the manner in which this Act has been operationalized.
