Schulz's life and work. photo credit: Michelle Marques Visit Santa Rosa/Santa Rosa Metro Chamber's Chelsea Wood and Denise Aver-Phillips grab a photo with Lucy and Woodstock in downtown Santa Rosa. What do St. Paul, Minnesota, and Santa Rosa, California, have in common? They both paid tribute to cartoonist Charles M. Schulz with a series of public art installations featuring statues of his famous Peanuts characters. From 2000 to 2010, artists in both of Schulz's hometowns painted and auctioned off hundreds of 4-foot-tall sculptures of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and more. This project drew tourists from around the world and left a lasting legacy.
