Episode Synopsis

If you listen to this podcast, you’ve probably stepped inside the Littleton Food Co-op. But have you ever been inside the Park Slope Food Co-op of Brooklyn, New York? Probably not. That’s because you have to be a member to shop at this Brooklyn institution that has been praised and parodied since its inception in 1973. Perhaps its most discussed feature is the member work requirement. Seventy five percent of their “employees” are actually co-op members earning their right to shop for “good food at low prices.” On this episode of “That’s Rad,” host Anastasia sits down with Ashley, a member of the Park Slope Food Co-op, to talk about her experiences, and see if they can find any common ground. Hint: the common ground is not going to be on store intercom usage.

All are welcome to visit and shop at the Littleton Food Co-op! No membership required. Conveniently located right off of Exit 41 in Littleton, we are filled to the brim with local produce, cheeses, meats, craft beer and wine, and more. There’s also prepared foods, deli items, and bulk foods to meet your needs. Littleton’s first and only community-owned market has everything to meet your needs this winter (and beyond!).
