Mike Textbeak is a Philadelphia-based industrial electronic music producer and DJ known for his surreal soundscapes and deeply haunting lyrics and melodies. Blending elements of ‘80s industrial, Detroit techno, and witch house, his compositions draw comparisons to artists like Coil and Cabaret Voltaire.
Textbeak’s new album, Asemic Musick, explores themes of confusion, chaos, and magick, and is a reflection of the current state of the world filtered through his eyes. The title refers to asemic writing or “writing without meaning,” which illustrates his use of cut-up techniques and self-created randomizing tools to destroy meaning and create something new and prescient in a world saturated with AI and plastic pop, and starved for unique visions.
