Listen "Malawian (East Africa) Educator takes the lead in promoting Gender Equality"
Episode Synopsis
In a recent UNICEF report (2020), nearly 1 in 4 girls between the ages of 15 and 19 are neither employed nor enrolled in education or training, compared to 1 in 10 boys. Every day, children and adolescents are exposed to gender inequality in their homes and communities - in textbooks, in the media, and among their caregivers. Education, however, has the power to transform lives, and in Malawi - East Africa, education and technology are being harnessed to achieve gender equality and equity in the classroom. I had the privilege of speaking with Malawian educator and Fulbright scholar Ms. Agape Musopole. She has made a significant contribution to the promotion of gender equality in the school system.
