Listen "Performing school finds benefits in going virtual"
Episode Synopsis
Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. What had been an in person school for young performers…went online rapidly during the pandemic…and has now found it can attract a wider range of instructors and students from all around the country. Joe Lorenzo is the founder of Society Performers Academy and is a former children’s casting director. He says for kids who are accepted following auditions, it helps to build self confidence even if it doesn’t lead to a performing career. He had concerns at first about moving to virtual classes online..but he says it has worked..
“You know we keep the class sizes smaller. It’s not ..we’re not throwing the spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks. We want to make sure that it’s about quality and not quantity. But a lot of castings are being done online now.”
