Listen "Innovation in MRIs"
Episode Synopsis
Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. Innovation in MRIs. Dr. Orlando Simonetti …a professor of internal medicine and radiology at the Ohio State University College of Medicine has worked with Siemens to bring a new MRI machine with a lower magnetic field and a wider opening to patients. The doctor says it allows patients with pacemakers…as well as those with claustrophobia. and others such as children with congenital heart disease to have a safer experience. And beyond that..
“ Just the cost, the size and weight of the machine are all reduced. The lower the magnetic field strength, the less expensive the system, the less expensive it is to install.”
And it offers lower radiation levels as well. You can tune into our full interview with Dr. Simonetti online.
