FEMA is reaching out to the public during national preparedness month….with information through the FEMA app, Ready.gov Website and more. Senior Official Sherman Gillums says know the risks where you live and having plans can make a big difference if a disaster should strike..
“One of the ways we’re asking people to be prepared is to stay informed. In most areas, you’re going to have an evacuation alert system… you’re going to have ways to be warned about what’s happening. So when the worst happens you’re not trying to guess…you’re not thinking through things for the first time…you actually hear guidance on where to go.”
And there are steps you can take to help you stay connected with family members and neighbors. The FEMA app is available for smartphones…and the Web site again is www.ready.gov.
