Remember the unique sound of an AOL dial-up connection? After 30 years, this iconic internet service is finally ending on September 30, 2025. While most of us have moved on to lightning-fast broadband, about 200,000 Americans in very rural areas still depend on dial-up as their only way to get online. The difference is huge—today's internet speeds are roughly 18,000 times faster than those early connections, supporting everything from streaming videos to advanced AI applications that would have been impossible during the dial-up days.  We take a nostalgic look back.
