Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and heightened devotion and worship. The fast entails abstinence from eating, drinking, smoking and any activity that can nullify the deed in order to become closer to God. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam. This week, we reflect on ourselves to discover and understand the meaning of Ramadan from one's perspective. 
“Ramadan Mubarak” and “Ramadan Kareem” are common greetings exchanged in this period, wishing the recipient a blessed and generous month respectively.
