The Fruit of the Spirit
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
A couple of weeks ago my Pastor spoke about the Fruit of the Spirit and this gave me the idea to create a T-shirt design.  I looked on the web to see if there was a T-shirt similar to what I was thinking, but what I saw was different shirts with multiple fruits or shirts with just the scripture on it.  I did see one shirt that had an apple on it with all the characteristics listed in it. That let me know that some still had the idea I had about the fruit of the spirit when I was younger.
I always believed that when people talked about the  fruit of the spirit, it meant multiple fruits. It wasn't only until I was older that I realized that it was just one fruit with many characteristics. And those characteristics made the fruit whole.
On the natural side fruit has many parts, an orange alone has the rind,  pulp, it has segments which are the slices, the zest, seeds and juice sac. And some other parts I can’t pronounce.  Each part has its characteristics and purpose to make the fruit whole.
God wants us to have love for our fellow man.  Joy which is deeper than just happiness. Joy does not depend on what is happening around us.  Peace, which is freedom from disturbance, a completeness or whole.  Longsuffering, patiently enduring hardship.  Gentleness, the quality of being kind and tenderhearted.  Goodness being moral good or virtuous. He wants us to have complete trust in him, which is Faith.  We need inner humility or strength, which is Meekness. And we all need self control or Temperance.
God wants us to have these characteristics in us. It is our job to cultivate the fruit so we can grow and we can be prosperous.  He wants us to be whole.
