I had the chance to speak to someone who doesn't live too far away from me, and that was Micheal Huxley from Bemused Backpacker. I spoke to Michael about the journey he took into starting Bemused Backpacker and how he had transitioned from being a nurse to a full-time travel blogger and made his business a success.Over the years, Michael's work has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, BBC, The Globe and Mail, USA Today Travel, NASA and much more.  One of the most important topics with spoke about was the importance of travel bloggers being paid for any work they undertake. He passionately feels if all travel bloggers demand to get paid for the work they do, in doing so, they will pave the way for other travel bloggers to do the same. He explains why this is so important, as it would stop brands and companies from mistreating bloggers.  Michael talked to me about the fact that he felt a lot of bloggers were after freebies, and he explained why that is not good for the business. I also spoke to Michael about how perseverance and consistency are critical as a travel blogger and how that longevity can lead you to a successful career in the business.We discussed some of Michael's memorable places and a few tales where a cat once saved his life.Michael also spoke to me about what he gets up to when he is not working and travelling.
