Listen "becoming sustainable and creating positive change"

Episode Synopsis

Lately, Ive been thinking of our environment. There are so many things that are stressful and overbearing to think about.  There's plastic pollution, Methane emissions and green house gasses, micro plastics, the burning of fossil fuels and non renewable resources, and honestly just the overall wastefulness that we see every day in our society.  I decided that I wanted to do my research and figure out what it is that I can do to become a more sustainable person. This episode is an accumulation of what Ive learned this past week. Its not much and I don't know everything, but It's something. I think that's what matters. I talk about how we should educate ourselves in any way we can and begin to make swaps and sustainable choices with our dollar and voice. Originally, I wanted to talk about composting and how we can naturally decompose our food waste at home. This is because food waste in landfills releases methane that is a huge contributor to global warming.  Except, I realized I don't actually know enough about composting to talk about it or share advice. Im still on this Journey and Im hoping to start my own compost bin within the next few weeks. Here are some of the compost videos that I have been learning from. If you are interested, check them out! ( I will be doing a podcast episode on composing once Ive done it and know enough to share advice )Composting Links: + https://foodforward.org/food-waste/whats-the-deal-with-food-waste-and-climate-change/#:~:text=When%20we%20put%20our%20food,produce%20methane%20as%20a%20byproduct.+https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eO4HdrIXnVU+https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyYyy4nKzDg+https://lovefoodhatewaste.co.nz/heres-one-easy-way-to-tackle-climate-change-that-you-may-not-know-about/Links to other podcasts that talk about sustainability: + https://open.spotify.com/show/6qU6GBIa8dG3CsImQkjZH8?si=92e2f052548048d1+ https://open.spotify.com/show/1NczjL5JBQDqfsgkKmxql5?si=6cb80a74e0ee470c+https://open.spotify.com/show/6zrL0QQWBhlVFsCveE2mtE?si=a86b5e1e10df458eOther Links: Chickpea Magazine: + https://chickpeamagazine.com/The book Im currently reading:( If you are interest in reading I suggest seeing if a local library has it, that way you don't have to buy it ) + https://www.amazon.com/Climate-Optimism-Celebrating-Systemic-Change/dp/1684811589/ref=sr_1_1?crid=ACQT63V952Z2&keywords=climate+optimism&qid=1687812383&sprefix=climate+optimism+%2Caps%2C156&sr=8-1WEEKLY QUOTE: “I have promised myself that I’m going to do everything I can for as long as I can.” — Greta Thunberghttps://www.instagram.com/takeastepback_podcast/
