Listen "84: Dr Tommy Wood – How to Support Brain Health"
Episode Synopsis
84: Dr Tommy Wood - How to Support Brain Health "What matters most for any baby with a brain injury is the environment they go home to and grow up in... What happens in hospital has a relatively minor effect." Dr. Tommy Wood is currently the assistant professor of paediatrics and neuroscience at the University of Washington. He originally trained in biochemistry at the University of Cambridge, going on to study medicine at the University of Oxford, and complete a Ph.D. in Norway on neonatal brain injury. His research now focuses on improving brain health and function across the life-course and supporting recovery from brain injury. He is also Associate Editor of the journal, Lifestyle Medicine, competes in Powerlifting and Strongman competitions, and is a strength and conditioning coach. In his conversation with Dr Julian Abel, they talk about neuroscience, nutrition, and how learnings from neonatal care can help us support people in later life.
