You've heard the encouragement, "be present" or "live in the present." Maybe you've even said it. It can be a good encouragement to remove distractions and focus on the situation that you are in. However, it can create a burden. Am I being present enough? Am I really soaking up each moment? We can also become consumed with the present and forget completely about the past and the future. Yet the Bible provides a better way, your grip of the past and your picture of the future directly impact how you live in the present.
