On today’s episode, we have a conversation with Neil McKown, Director of Student Ministry at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Austin, TX and the self-appointed Commissioner for the Souperbowl of Caring Smackdown in Mission Presbytery. Now in its seventh year, the Smackdown is a competition among almost two dozen churches in Mission Presbytery to see who can donate the most non-perishable food items and funds to the agency of their choice in their own community. The winner gets the Smackdown Wrestling Belt for the year!In 2024 with 22 churches participating , almost 19,000 items were collected with over $39,000 donated.Can this competition go beyond Mission Presbytery’s borders?
