This past Sunday, we explored James 3:1-12 together - which went into our use of words. James had all sorts of warnings about speech and how we seem to be able to control so much in this life, except for our tongues. We end up both praising God and cursing our fellow humans with it. Our encouragement and challenge this week was to bring life to others - to find ways to bring small joy to those in our life by the use of our words. Give someone you care about a call, write a letter to an old friend, leave a note for your kids, reconnect with someone you may have had a falling out with etc. On the flipside, we are also challenged to pause when wanting to gossip or slander others and to look at our hearts and ask why we are feeling the need to say these things. Often our lips reveal something going on internally and this week provides a great opportunity for us to pause and work on that. - Sermon from 7/4/2021
