This Sunday we come to the halfway point of the Gospel of Mark. We have seen a boat miracle (stilling of the storm), a bread miracle (feeding of the 5000), a boat miracle (walking on the water), and a bread miracle (the feeding of the 4000). Now we have bread in the boat. Here Jesus confronts the disciples with the question of whether or not they really understand who he is. Although we are tempted to be frustrated with the disciples' lack of understanding, we cannot be smug because Jesus confronts us with this very same question. How will we answer?
