Listen "Studio Secrets A to Z - TV Mania - Part 4"
Episode Synopsis
TV Mania was musically written and performed by Nick Rhodes and guitarist Warren Cuccurullo and producer / multi-instrumentalist Anthony J. Resta with sound snippets from TV dropped in (as in Duran's "Hothead"), or guest vocalists, including themselves. Nick wrote most of the lyrics that were used. A few songs have appeared on Cuccurullo's website and in the 2004 movie Trollywood, directed by Madeleine Farley, who had been dating Rhodes for several years.
The music was very experimental, consisting in large part of found sound recorded from radio and television, in the style of musique concrète. Rhodes once described it as a “social junk culture triptych opera” with a loose storyline, and said he'd love to see it developed into a stage show.
