Listen "Foo Fighters"
Episode Synopsis
This week’s episode is all about a band I had planned covering from the very beginning of the podcast - The Foo Fighters! With this past weekend’s Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium, I thought now was the right time for this episode. As much as I appreciated Dave Grohl’s work with Nirvana, the Foo Fighters music was much more interesting and captivating to me. Really from the first self-titled record I was hooked, with “The Colour and the Shape” solidifying my fandom. They are easily one of my top 10 bands of all time, even if not every record has spoken to me as strongly as others. But with 27 years and 10 full length albums under their belts, they have become the elder statesmen of rock, while still remaining as popular and relevant as ever. With the untimely passing of Taylor Hawkins, the future of the band is uncertain. What is certain, is the tribute concert could not have been a more fitting and beautiful celebration of life, through the pure love of music and the joy of performing. That’s what has made Taylor’s passing personally so heartbreaking: I have never seen them perform live and in person. A reminder to seize opportunities to experience the things that move you.So, here’s to Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Rami Jaffee, and of course Taylor Hawkins. Subscribe today!
