Dahlia and Carolyn talk about how clothes are a contributing factor to our identity and shape how we present ourselves to the world. Carolyn talks about how quick we are to make an opinion on others based on what we see - and what we can do to be more conscious of this.
Dr Carolyn Mair is a Cognitive Psychologist, and fashion business consultant. Prior to establishing her consultancy in 2017, she was full Professor of Psychology for Fashion at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London, where she established the University’s Psychology Department and created the world’s first MSc and BSc programmes to apply Psychology specifically in the context of fashion. She has published broadly in academic and business journals, and is frequently cited in press and media. Her book, The Psychology of Fashion, published in 2018, has sold almost 10,000 copies internationally and is now available in six languages. Carolyn is Chartered Psychologist, Fellow of the British Psychological Society and recipient of their Distinguished Contributions to Psychology Education Award. She holds a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience, MSc Research Methods, and BSc Applied Psychology and Computing. In her early career, she worked as a visual merchandiser and graphic designer.
