During the 1960s both the United States and the Soviet Union were doing everything and anything to be the first on the Moon. A ton of money was spent while at the same time, corners were cut, and risks taken. Rumors began to emerge about cosmonauts dying in space. Some failed to attain orbit and slowly drifted away from the Earth. Systems didn't work causing a few to die from the hazards of space.
