Listen "Devastating Tsunami 2004: ORH on Sumatra"

Episode Synopsis

Thanks for listening to Stories of Hope and Help! In this episode, we continue our discussion of how Operation Renewed Hope responded to help those in Sumatra and Indonesia who were devastated by the earthquake and tsunami. On December 26, 2004, a devastating 9.3 M earthquake struck near Sumatra. The resulting tsunami killed 230,000 people in 15 nations surrounding Sumatra. As you listen, ask yourself how you would respond to a disaster of this magnitude? Acts 11:19-30 describes the remarkable work of God in the church at Antioch (in Syria, now modern day Turkey). In a relatively short period, the church produced dynamic disciples who were able to respond to an impending disaster.    The island of Nias in norther Sumatra was the focal point of our relief efforts, and as a result a gospel-preaching church was strengthened on Nias.
