Episode Synopsis

In this episode of The Sticky Note Marketing Show, host Mary Czarnecki interviews journalist Trish Glose, who shares her 20 years of experience in storytelling and interviewing. Trish offers valuable tips on how to initiate and maintain conversations, whether at networking events, conferences, or personal gatherings. She emphasizes the importance of listening, observing body language, and making people feel special through meaningful interactions. The discussion also covers practical advice for bringing conversations to a close and introducing people effectively. Trish draws inspiration from the people she interviews and shares her passion for storytelling through her podcast and YouTube show 'Hungry For More.'KEY POINTS:Effective Communication through Active Listening: The ability to genuinely listen, maintain eye contact, and observe body language is crucial for building rapport and encouraging others to share, making them feel safe and heard. The Power of Curiosity and Simple Questions: Overcoming the fear of initiating conversations often starts with simple, open-ended questions driven by genuine curiosity about the other person, rather than a desire to impress.Preparation and Professionalism: Whether in interviews, networking, or daily interactions, paying attention to detail and having a routine (even rehearsing a few exit phrases or facts for introductions) can elevate communication from amateur to professional.ABOUT TRISH:Obnoxiously curious, journalist Trish Glose has been asking questions and telling stories (professionally) for nearly 20 years. She began her journey in 2002, working in TV News in Medford, Oregon as reporter, moving up to producer and anchor and eventually Executive Producer. She’s covered everything from massive, destructive wildfires to murder trials to the meth epidemic and the homeless situation. It was the blossoming wine and food scene in Southern Oregon though, that she gravitated towards and kept pitching story ideas that would get her in a vineyard or local tasting room. Also dogs. She "retired" from TV news in 2021. After leaving the news business, she moved that passion for interviewing, connecting, and storytelling into her podcast, "Hungry for More : an Epicurean's Dilemma." It serves as a platform for unedited, longform interviews featuring chefs, winemakers, food bloggers, wine and food nerds, and really anyone who appreciates the epicurean side of life. She recently launched a show under the same umbrella as a way to bring others' stories to life.LINK MENTIONED IN THE EPISODE: YOUTUBE: @hungryformorewithtrishgloseINSTAGRAM: @hungryformorewithtrishgloseWEBSITE: trishglose.comCONNECT WITH ME:WEBSITE: www.maryczarneckispeaks.comFACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/maryczaronlineINSTAGRAM: instagram.com/maryczarnecki_LINKEDIN: linkedin.com/in/mczarnecki/SPOTIFY: https://open.spotify.com/show/43zwg2VNf8nMuqhrAn5L3BAPPLE PODCAST: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sticky-note-marketing-with-mary-czarnecki/id1484391371---------------DOWNLOAD THE FIRST TWO CHAPTERS OF MY BOOK FOR FREE: The Connection Engine: 52 Innovative Lead Generation Ideas for Small BusinessesGET ACCESS HERE: https://maryczar.com/freechapters Hosted on Acast.
