KEY TAKEAWAYS
Occasionally in Five Element Acupuncture, there’s a meridian that runs right up the centre of the body and when it gets blocked the person has no energy. The treatment to clear that blockage involves placing a needle on the perineum. I’ve seen amazing changes in people who’ve had this treatment; people having babies who have been trying for a long time, people whose energy has been low for a really long time – like chronic fatigue – have got better.
Treating unexplained infertility is something we can do because it’s all about relieving stress. Women stress that if they’ve not had a baby before they’re 35 and this puts stress on the body, including the uterus. When there are high levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, the proteins in the lining of the uterus that bind the embryo once it fertilises reduce, so you’re less likely to get implantation.
Lots of people live in fight or flight mode, where they’re expected to do more and more at their job while being a good friend and partner and this keeps people living in a high state of stress. Mental stress still triggers fight or flight, tensing up the muscles and your body feels like it’s under physical stress.
Just knowing we can trust in ourselves to do and say the right things, we don’t have to have everything planned, we don’t have to control everything in our life. You can use this at work as well, you can go into a meeting and trust that you’re going to say the right thing without pre-planning everything. It will be more genuine because it’s coming from a place of curiosity and responding the uniqueness of the situation. I love seeing people go about their lives in a different way in a level of peace that they haven’t felt before.

BEST MOMENTS
‘I felt buzzy, fuzzy, wuzzy.’
‘The research on female fertility dropping off a cliff at age 35 is well out of date, there’s hardly any difference between fertility between 35 and 45.’
‘Acupuncture has been shown to increase blood flow to the reproductive organs, rebalance the fertility hormones, reduce stress hormones, increase endorphins and serotonin.’
‘You need to embrace allowing, not trying harder and pushing.’
ABOUT THE GUEST
While studying Neuroscience at University College London (UCL) Michael started to suffer from insomnia. A friend suggested he try acupuncture and he was blown away by the results. Within six weeks Michael had no difficulty sleeping. Not only that, but he started to feel more vibrant and happier than ever before.
To find out more he began looking into the scientific literature. For his final project at UCL MIchael designed and carried out a small placebo-controlled trial of acupuncture for pain relief.
He became convinced of its effectiveness above and beyond a mere placebo. Michael then undertook a three year accredited training at the School of Five Element Acupuncture (SOFEA).
The more he learned about acupuncture the more he was amazed by its insights into the workings of the human body and mind.
As well as diagnosis and treatment methods, he learned about patients' concerns and fears and how to put people at ease.
Michael continues to work in the field of acupuncture research. He has been involved in a large review of the evidence for acupuncture's role in the treatment of depression. This was published by the Cochrane Collaboration - a reliable source of evidence in health care.
In 2015 he opened his own acupuncture school.

ABOUT THE HOST
Gavin Scott is a born entrepreneur with a passion for start up and scale up. He has over 20 years real estate experience in investment and development.
Gavin says: Over the years I have discovered that mindset is everything. Now, that might sound obvious, but it is! You see the number of awoken minds are very few in reality. Whilst acknowledging mindset is key it is absolutely different from utilising, influencing, impacting and effecting great change, for yourself, your loved ones, friends, colleagues and the wider public.
Why?
Like most of us I have had many ups and downs. I want to share the lessons learnt and promote a better environment for all, internally and externally!
How?
Through sharing my own experiences and hosting some fabulous individuals including some big household names to discuss key topics around mindset and the success formulas I hope the listener will become inspired to create space for change for betterment in their lives. I aim to inspire change by encouragement, not by force. I intend to inspire by education, not by regulation.
