KEY TAKEAWAYS
Before my friend’s business deal is completed there are hundreds of hurdles to get through or over, or challenges to find solutions for. They’re not always the biggest challenges, but they do require tenacity and persistence which my friend has in abundance. During the deal’s lifecycle, one day it looks positive and he’s happy but a few days later he’ll say he’s depressed because now it looks like it’s off. This cycle has happened at least 10 times, so he’s probably experiencing it at least 100 times.
My friend is one of those people that whatever you say to him goes in one ear and out the other, he’s not actually listening because all he’s focussed on are his emotions. What emotions does he feel when he overcomes a challenge and what is he feeling when he’s “depressed”, which I think is really disillusioned, distracted or disappointed? Happiness and certainty vs unhappiness and uncertainty.
Where there is uncertainty there is fear, fear is generally created from a past experience or past or current programming. Could you imagine having those huge swings of emotion 100 times in a number of weeks? How do we take the uncertainty and fear away? Once we do that we’re in a much stronger place to control our emotions.
If I was “Nameless”, rather than allowing each element/chapter/hurdle/challenge within the deal lifecycle, I would look at myself. This is not about the deal at all, it's got everything to do with how he is feeling. Focus on past wins not on the historical experience where things haven’t gone to plan or they’ve not worked out. Then, focus on your environment and the joy it gives you to live where you live and the happiness and contentment that comes from being the father and husband in a warm and blossoming family and home.

BEST MOMENTS
‘When my friend is happy, I get a nugget of happiness, when he’s depressed I get that nugget of happiness taken away from me.’
‘I don’t like it when happiness is taken away from me, which is partly my issue as I am over-invested in other people.’
‘Success breeds success.’
‘What my friend “Nameless is doing is associating himself with the transaction: If he’s successful he’s a great guy, if he’s not successful he’s a terrible guy. This constant flip-flopping is unhealthy. The more we unwrap this the more I’m beginning to see clearly that that is to do with a loss in identity.’

ABOUT THE HOST
Gavin Scott is a born entrepreneur with a passion for start up and scale up. He has over 20 years real estate experience in investment and development.
Gavin says: Over the years I have discovered that mindset is everything. Now, that might sound obvious, but it is! You see the number of awoken minds are very few in reality. Whilst acknowledging mindset is key it is absolutely different from utilising, influencing, impacting and effecting great change, for yourself, your loved ones, friends, colleagues and the wider public.
Why?
Like most of us I have had many ups and downs. I want to share the lessons learnt and promote a better environment for all, internally and externally!
How?
Through sharing my own experiences and hosting some fabulous individuals including some big household names to discuss key topics around mindset and the success formulas I hope the listener will become inspired to create space for change for betterment in their lives. I aim to inspire change by encouragement, not by force. I intend to inspire by education, not by regulation.
