KEY TAKEAWAYS
The goal of a character coach is to develop their pupil so well that they can drop that pupil into any planned environment and they can remain loving and productive in any environment, no matter the day, no matter the hour. Character is those inner parts of a person that are present and active across all environments throughout life. It’s a conglomerate of many things: Perfectionism, messiness, hope, joy, peace, love, patience, forgiveness, unforgiveness, doubt, fear, bad planning, daily scheduling. All of these things come together to make a person’s character.
Examine the lives of Gladys Elwood and Amy Carmichael and see how they remained persistent in their tasks and especially with the kids they adopted. Amy Carmichael was in India and started a complex for abandoned kids. Glady Elwood from the UK went to China and also had an impromptu orphanage, in some cases kids just showed up. They went through some things in order to take care of those kids so that unconditional love, but also having the persistence and tenacity to keep going and to keep helping in the difficult times. It’s possible that the more I talk or that I even let people know that the pinnacle, that height of character development, is possible, the more people understand that and start to focus on perfecting those inner parts of themselves.
This life is a game and built into this game called life is difficult and tragic. We have an opponent in this game called life and he’s going to strive to take advantage of a situation where he can fan the flames, especially in a situation where a person has unforgiveness, he’s putting thoughts into their mind so that something rash comes out of their mouths. Be very mindful of any exchange that you get into, be careful with your speech to avoid even entering into this sort of situation. Go into situations with the posture of forgives and patience to try and hear the next person put, that takes practice to get to that point, many different conversations with many different people can help you get to that point.
The one thing that has helped me is to keep in mind this mindset: “I’m gonna keep getting better each time”. You didn’t nail it? Get better at the next conversation, and the next one, and the next one. This keeps me from letting perfectionism choke out my performance. In my past, perfectionism would cause me to lose hours of my time trying to get things just right, but you’re choking out your performance. Sometimes, I’ll intentionally leave a mistake in there.
BEST MOMENTS
‘Everybody can have their character perfected, forged and tested through the fires of life and step up another level each time.’ ‘When I type, I refrain from using auto-fill. If you’re rushing, you’re going to make some errors, this helps me with speaking slower and influences me to pause more whenever I speak and think about how to say things so that they come off very palatable, or even say them at all.’‘Singing in public can help with anxiety of public speaking, it helped me overcome the opinions of other people.’Conversations are a dance. To get good at dancing you have to practise.’

ABOUT THE HOST
Gavin Scott is a born entrepreneur with a passion for start up and scale up. He has over 20 years real estate experience in investment and development.
Gavin says: Over the years I have discovered that mindset is everything. Now, that might sound obvious, but it is! You see the number of awoken minds are very few in reality. Whilst acknowledging mindset is key it is absolutely different from utilising, influencing, impacting and effecting great change, for yourself, your loved ones, friends, colleagues and the wider public.
Why?
Like most of us I have had many ups and downs. I want to share the lessons learnt and promote a better environment for all, internally and externally!
How?
Through sharing my own experiences and hosting some fabulous individuals including some big household names to discuss key topics around mindset and the success formulas I hope the listener will become inspired to create space for change for betterment in their lives. I aim to inspire change by encouragement, not by force. I intend to inspire by education, not by regulation.
