Dan Rivera is a transformative leader whose career in public service and development has made a lasting impact on Massachusetts. As the immediate past President of MassDevelopment, he expanded the agency’s lending portfolio to support diverse businesses and regions while spearheading significant real estate projects and green finance initiatives. His leadership was marked by the historic expansion of the Transformative Development Initiative and the establishment of the Massachusetts Community Climate Bank. Previously, as a two-term Mayor of Lawrence, Dan revitalized the city by improving finances, public safety, and infrastructure. His administration oversaw a rise in housing development, the creation of the state’s first majority-minority police department, and the city’s recovery from the Merrimack Valley Gas Crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. A U.S. Army veteran and holder of an MBA from Suffolk University, Dan continues to serve on key boards and commissions, including Governor Maura Healey’s Latino Advisory Commission, promoting economic prosperity for the Latino community.
