God's Chosen Fast
Isaiah 58.3-12
It seems that Israelites were fasting but not seeing any result or impact of the discipline. They complain through the prophet Isaiah and God hears their cry and answers with a poignant "here's why it isn't working" indictment. On the upside God challenges them to behave differently and gives them a guide for the "kind of fasting He has chosen." As we look at the fourth reason we fast: to stand with the poor, we'll seek to understand what the link is.
