Listen "Dripfall in the Sassafras"
Episode Synopsis
Recorded on May 7, 2025, at Belmont, this is the sound of the sundown chorus at the edge of Clear Springs swamp. After a day of thunderstorms, water drips steadily from the understory trees while the swamp birds settle in for the evening. Among them: Barred Owl, Chimney Swift, Summer Tanager, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Prothonotary & Hooded Warblers, Carolina Wren, Louisiana Waterthrush, Great Crested & Acadian Flycatchers, Red-bellied and Pileated Woodpeckers, Brown Thrasher, Tufted Titmouse, Blue Jay, and even the buzz of a Ruby-throated Hummingbird. Beneath the canopy, the steady chorus of crickets and frogs rises, threading through the twilight air. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
