Zbigniew Preisner first came to international attention through his collaboration with the great Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski, for films such as the Dekalog series, The Double Life of Veronique and the critically acclaimed Three Colours Trilogy. Matthew explores Zbigniev's philosophy about music for film. He looks back on Preisner's early career in political cabaret in communist Poland, his work with Kieslowski and with directors such as Agnieska Holland and Louis Malle, about his feelings Hollywood and the vast body of music he’s produced for international cinema since Kieslowski's death in 1990.The programme features music from Dekalog, The Double Life of Veronique, Three Colours Blue, A Requiem For My Friend, The Queen Of Spain, The Secret Garden, Damage, Between Strangers, Woman of Berlin, Valley Of Shadows, All About Love, The Beautiful Country, Aberdeen, and Mother Didn't Know.
