Episode Synopsis
Keyboardist: Gail NoblesHello! I'm Gail Nobles.Welcome to Sound Flave. I don't know anyone that doesn't know anything about the Beatles. What I remember most about the Beatles is their hit song Let It Be. It was written by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon McCartney partnership. It’s a wonderful song. It sounds as if it was written just for me, and some of you might feel the same.At the time, it had the highest debut on the Billboard Hot 100, beginning its chart run at number 6 and eventually reaching the top. It was the Beatles' final single before McCartney announced his departure from the band.McCartney said he had the idea of "Let It Be" after he had a dream about his mother during the tense period surrounding the sessions for The Beatles ("the White Album") in 1968. Mary Patricia McCartney died of cancer in 1956, when he was fourteen. I can feel what McCartney went through, and his song certainly made me realize the meaning during the time my mother was leaving me. Did you know that Billy Preston played organ and electric piano for the Beatles? He played the organ for the song Let It Be. I've also seen Billy Preston performed the song live on piano. Well I hope that you're enjoying Sound Flave. Thank you for listening.
