When I think about self-empowering in SEE opportunities, one thing that comes into my mind is making a conscious decision to change your destiny, because this involves a lot of positive choices, a lot of taking action to some of the things that we see in our community. Just having the ability to be able to make or execute decisions for the betterment of the community, or personally. I’ve been able to interact with people in Kenya and I know that identifying an opportunity and offering a solution are two different things. You’ll find a lot of people identify problems, but they lack the zeal to offer solutions to some of the opportunities. On the other hand, we have a lot of people in Kenya that have already identified problems and are offering solutions, but they aren’t known. We need to see how we can position these people in the limelight in order to encourage others.
Education comes in different forms, people have formal education and can access opportunities, in rural communities people have informal education like skills. We focus on skills education because this helps people to gain the knowledge and skills to do something like agriculture and mechanics.
Everybody has a purpose in life, work on yours, serve your purpose through life. It doesn’t matter what you have, use what you have to change other people’s lives and serve your purpose. It is upon you to ask what is my purpose and how can I serve it in a simple way that I can do without having to focus on big, unattainable achievements.
