Today on Small Towns Unscripted, we’re joined by someone who has dedicated her life to serving Manson and the Lake Chelan Valley — Aurora Flores.Born in Texas, Aurora’s journey took her through California, and eventually to Manson, Washington — a move that came after her husband Val’s service at Fort Lewis while in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. Since arriving in Manson in 1989, Aurora has become a pillar of the community.For over 24 years, she has served on the Manson School Board, helping guide the district and advocate for students and families. Her leadership expanded statewide as President of the Washington State School Directors’ Association and as an appointee to the Professional Educator Standards Board.Professionally, Aurora’s background spans education, finance, state auditing, and counseling. She currently works as an academic counselor for the Washington Virtual Academies while pursuing doctoral studies.She and Val — a highly respected Vietnam veteran — raised four outstanding children, each admired for their entrepreneurial spirit and strong community ties. They’re now proud grandparents to six grandchildren right here in North Central Washington.In today’s episode, we sit down with Aurora to hear her story — one of service, family, leadership, and the deep roots of small town life.
