Episode Synopsis

We’ve been taught our whole lives that the harder you work, the further you’ll get. Graduate, get a degree, find a job, make money, provide, hustle harder. But somewhere along the way, work became the end-all, be-all. And in that grind, many of us lost something essential, our boundaries, our health, our joy.
In this season finale of Small Things, Big Life, I’m joined by Dawn Hunter joyful rebel, culture shifter, boundaries enthusiast, and host of the Work is Third podcast. Dawn reminds us that joy is strategic, boundaries are radical, and work should never come first. Together, we talk about why it’s not only okay but necessary to put yourself and your family first, and to let work come third.
This episode is about permission.  Permission to step out of the hustle, to say no, to set boundaries, and to build a life rooted in care and connection.
This is the final episode of Season One, and I want to thank each of you whether you’ve listened to one episode or the entire season. These conversations have reminded me again and again that we are not alone in the messy middle of life.
I’ll be back fresh and renewed in January 2026 for Season Two. And in the meantime, you can catch me as a guest on Dawn’s podcast Work is Third, I’ll share more about that on my socials when it goes live.
