Episode Synopsis

Born and raised into a Christian cult, escaping with her family at the age of 4 and suffering a life-threatening accident just one year later, it's music and songwriting which Adrianne Lenker has quoted as her means of survival. And whilst some may have taken the control and judgement she was exposed to in her youth and let it inform the way they lived the rest of their lives, Adrianne seems to find her emancipation and liberation through being exceptionally raw and vulnerable in her music. In this way, Adrianne has managed to make that means of survival, a means to success, co-founding the indie-rock/folk band 'Big Thief' as well as embarking on her own solo career. In this episode, we'll be exploring the life and music of Adrianne Lenker, revealing the link between this episode and last episode's 'The National' along the way!To watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/zZNkG6-hYmQ
