When you hear the term “economic development” what does that conjure up in your mind? For most people, the concept is broad and a little foreign. Many people think it doesn’t affect them or it’s someone else’s concern. Well, in this episode, we hope to enlighten you on why you should care and why it matters. Throughout the month of May we are going to be focused on growth and regionalism in the 417. This all started when we attended the Think Summit back in March. As REALTORS, we’re obviously interested in what is being done to create jobs and opportunities so that people want to relocate or stay here and buy housing. But, even if you’re not in a business sector where staying on top of these things is important, it should be important to you as a citizen. The vitality of our communities across SW Missouri depends on growth, jobs, education and progress. Starting with this episode we hope to break down this big topic to make it more palatable even if you don’t have the first clue about the topic. We will follow this up with interviews over the next 3 weeks with individuals who are on the forefront. Their approaches will vary but their main goals are all the same. We hope this sparks some curiosity and perhaps gives you some ideas on how to become more engaged or involved if you want to be.
