Billy Dove, better known as the 417Foodist, has become a local celebrity in 4 short years. What started as a hobby has offered him so many opportunities that he never would have dreamed of. A love of food and wanting to shine a spotlight on local restaurateurs was what drove him to start his brand. He wanted to showcase the great culinary options available not just in Springfield but throughout 417 land. Understanding that what drives these restaurateurs is the love they put into every dish and knowing that most of them don’t have a big marketing budget, he wanted to do his part to share his dining experiences with his community. He isn’t a food critic. He doesn’t have any formal marketing training. But, in 4 years he has built his brand as a side hustle. He has a full time job by day but by night and on the weekends he’s 417Foodist and you never know where he’ll show up next. His thoughts on building a brand, stay consistent, engage on social media and follow those that are doing what you want to do. What does the future hold for the 417Foodist? Who knows?
