Our guest for this episode is Chief Warrant Officer 4 Clifford W. Bauman. Clifford is a 34 year Army veteran. During his time in the service he was stationed near the Pentagon and was there on 9/11. He rushed in to find survivors but wasn’t able to save anyone. That led to depression which eventually led to his attempt to take his own life. In this episode Cliff talks candidly about the aftermath of 9/11 and how close he was to actually being in the Pentagon when the plane hit. His mental health began to deteriorate soon after and he no longer wanted to live. His failed suicide attempt and the counciling he received afterward, made him realize he could help others. Now he is a motivational speaker and speaks frequently to those currently enlisted and veterans about mental health. He hosts a podcast called The Mental Health Warrior and has written a book by the same title. This story is poignant, real and heartbreaking for all those that suffer from mental illness.
