Listen "Sensory Walk: Using Your Senses to be Mindful and Present on a Walk"
Episode Synopsis
Sensory Walk: Using Your Senses to Be Mindful and Present on a Walk
“Taste and see that the Lord is good!” Psalm 34:8
Welcome to Episode #47! We are still in our Simple Summer Series! And today we are talking about a different type of walk. Last week, we talked about taking a Gratitude Walk. And, today we are talking about taking a Sensory Walk.
Why do a sensory walk? It’s the perfect way to be present and mindful this summer!
Benefits: Engaging your senses can help you be more mindful by drawing your attention to the present moment and connecting with parts of yourself that are often disconnected from the world around you. This practice can help you shape your brain to be more attentive and less reactive, and can even help you form new neural pathways.
Sensory Walk ideas:
5-4-3-2-1 Sensory Walk
5 things you see, 4 things you hear, 3 things you feel, 2 things you smell, 1 thing you taste (Or want to taste!)
Seek different textures on your walk. Touch the beautiful flowers and plants on your walk. Notice the breeze or heat on your skin. Notice how your feet feel when they touch the pavement. Can you feel every part of your foot on the ground?
Walk slowly and do not bring your phone!
“I will walk with you in complete freedom, for I seek to follow your every command.” Psalm 119:45 TPT
