Along the way, we glimpse Cloisterham’s small-town vanity, hear whispers of Edwin and Rosa’s engagement, and meet the curious stonemason Durdles. Through humor and satire, Dickens paints a vivid picture of a town full of inflated egos and hidden tensions, setting the stage for the mysteries yet to come.
