This Mokshapuri was at its zenith during the rule of Pallavas. Cholas celebrated it the same way by building so many temples around it.
Amarar Kalki chose Kanchi for it's glory, as an important place for his historic epic novels like Sivagamiyin sabadham Parthiban Kanavu and Ponniyin Selvan and beautifully described the scenic location and setting up of Kanchi.
