Listen "Things Jesus Never Said - Part 3"
Episode Synopsis
What does the Bible say about women preaching?(1 Timothy 2:12) I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. (1 Corinthians 14: 34-35) Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.(1 Corinthians 14:26) What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.(1 Corinthians 14:3 CEB) Those who prophesy speak to people, building them up, and giving them encouragement and comfort.(2 Timothy 4:2 NIV) Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.(1 Corinthians 14:3 AMP) But [on the other hand] the one who prophesies speaks to people for edification [to promote their spiritual growth] and [speaks words of] encouragement [to uphold and advise them concerning the matters of God] and [speaks words of] consolation [to compassionately comfort them].(Proverbs 18:21 NIV) The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.(Ephesians 4:29) Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.(Hebrews 10:24-25) And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.(1 Thessalonians 5:14) And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.(Galatians 6:2) Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.(Philippians 1:6) being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.(1 Corinthians 10:13) No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.Support the show
