Transcript for EP16:Welcome to SHE is Confident. Hi! This is Deon Teh and in this episode, I will be sharing with you second part about Getting Out from a Victim Mind.We feel our emotions everyday and  we carry them with us. Do you remember the times when you are not feeling comfortable when recalling back some memories? These feelings have never left you and will always be with you as long as you are not willing to let go. When you are in the victim zone, you will always feel that everyone is bullying you and you feel that everything, or everyone is against you. You will feel sorry for yourself most of the time or always playing the blame game on others. Many relationships are ruined because of this mindset. People with a victim mindset find themselves in bad relationships with everyone, this affects their life, work and even family. Most of the time, these people are unhappy. How can we be aware of such behaviour within us and what are ways that we can use to get out of this  mindset. Did you know that our emotions is also a money block to our financial freedom? In my previous episode, I shared with you about my 1st job and having a victim mindset and today I would like to talk about the victim mindset in my current company. I have many employees who choose to be a victim in the workplace. As their leader, these are definitely not easy tasks to deal with. Very often I’m stuck in between these situations whenever someone complains to me. I am torn as I can understand where they are coming from and also understand why they have such a mind set.I have an open door policy and allow any employee to seek help from me if they experience any. Those employees will also pinpoint at other’s faults and always want my agreement to their complaints. Initially, I would listen patiently but slowly as the days go by, I became annoyed by these colleagues as they started to take advantage of my open door policy and their complaints became more regular and it is always the case of others at fault. This started to affect the work morale in the company. There is one particular employee we used to have, she was someone who is extremely pessimistic. Everything in her life seems dark, from the start of work until she knocks off, nothing can satisfy her. On the surface, she seems like a person with high expectations or  demands, but in actual fact, she has a victim mindset. There were communication breakdowns and unhappiness between departments, stemming from these colleagues. They have negative thoughts and feel like the whole world owes them a living hence they constantly try to defend themselves by blaming others. Whenever there are bad internal relationships between colleagues, there will not be teamwork and this will not be good for the company as it will affect the business. This is a vicious cycle for the company and eventually everyone will suffer. In the end, I decided to set a boundary and allow my HR department to counsel them instead. Under this system, the HR department will mediate the complaints, and those who regularly complain will soon realise that they are not able to get any form of support for their unreasonable complaints. For those employees who are willing to self reflect and will improve themselves and grow within the company. For those who are unwilling, they will eventually leave the company. In my previous episode, I talked about how I also have this victim mindset and how I overcame it. For me, self reflection is important to understand the victim mindset that I had. As I had to handle the interpersonal relationships on a managerial level, I can't have a victim mindset and continue to blame my staff their mistakes or negligence, I need to set a good example for my staff. To improve myself, I practise active listening, consulting others for their feedback, learnt how to better interact and put myself in their shoes to better understand their situation. Everyone sees things differently and we need to understand that everyone has different perspectives.Company morale can be lifted once everyone understands that they are not misunderstood and have support. Be an emotion master to ourselves and clear our mind to find out the commonality for everyone.Do not be led into the trap by those who have negative thoughts or victim mindset. Instead, bring these people out of their victim zone using your positive energy. When you become aware of victim mindset, you will be able to notice people who have this type of mindset. Do not join them and become like one of them. Avoid engaging with them, and always partner with someone from HR or their direct superiors to deal with them. Beware and protect yourself against these victim mind set as they can affect you too. You would not be able to change these people but you will have to let them know that they are solely responsible for themselves and no one else is responsible for them or owes them anything. Any staff that has a victim mindset will continue to live in their own world, being comfortable without being considerate to others. By doing so, they will lose the opportunity to grow or develop and they will move further and further away from being successful. Always have gratitude towards life, be satisfied with what you have and learn to appreciate others as well. Be more compassionate towards this world and others, these are important ways to help someone to get out of their victim mindset. If you want to talk about transforming your inner child, healing your relationships with yourself and money, connect with me through my Facebook and the link is in the show notes.Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/leeyongtehInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/d_t_l_y/Linkedin - https://www.linkedin.com/in/deon-teh-leeyong-573a0766/I look forward to seeing you in my next episode where I will be sharing with you on POWER OF GRATITUDE.
