Listen "Did Nostalgia-Bait Kill Creativity?"
Episode Synopsis
It feels like just about every new release to come out of Hollywood in the past year has been some sort of "nostalgia-bait". When I was a teenager over a decade ago, we were enjoying things like Hunger Games, Mario, HSM, Gossip Girl, etc. Yet 10 years later, that is STILL all that is being released.
It seems as if the industry has sacrificed this idea of creativity, originality and fostering new IP to ONLY greenlight projects when they are tied to a previously existing franchise.
Nostalgia Marketing is something that has existed for a long time, but why has it become so rampant over the last 2 years? Well that is exactly what we set out to discover today.
