As always, we are governed by the releases that come in every month; we’ve certainly had our fair share this time of ambient, symphonic, neo-classical & experimental stuff for this podcast.
In addition to what would have been Vangelis’s 80th birthday, there are tributes from Michael Neil on his album ‘Into Infinity’, & Aural Films, with thirty-seven artists from around the world who have contributed their own reflections on his vast career, four & half hours of music, we’ve selected four tracks from this special collection titled ‘Tears In The Rain’. Someone you may not have heard of, Philip Jeck, who died last year, worked with old records and record players salvaged from junk shops. He really did play them as musical instruments, genuinely creating moving and transfixing music where we hear the art, not the gimmick. On the album ‘Stardust’ he collaborated with Faith Coloocia.
