Listen "GlobalCast - Life at Tabor Remote and in Person during COVID-19"
Episode Synopsis
Welcome to the third episode of GlobalCast. As module B kickstarted, some international students have returned to campus while many remained as remote learners under the pressure of travel ban and other protocols that makes returning particularly difficult. Because of the time difference, international students have to attend zoom classes at nighttime. They need to pay extra effort to stay focused and be actively engaged at the expense of sleep. The biggest missing part for them, however, is the connection with school and community. “In the conversation in class, I was always a listener and couldn't participate,” stated by Athena Zhong. The missing connection is not a surprising discovery amongst domestic students. “You can’t go into anyone’s dorm other than the dorm you are assigned to, and that takes away many fun experiences with friends” told by Nicolas Hatchens. In this episode, we will explore a typical school day for students in different hemispheres and discover how to foster a better Tabor experience under the pandemic.
