Janneke Sobeck, CEO of the Winona Family YMCA, joins Jeremy in this episode of Scrap Guy Solutions to talk about all of the great things happening at the Y! Janneke took over as CEO about 5 years ago during an incredibly challenging time. The Y was in an older building, deferred maintenance costs kept increasing, membership was dropping, and efforts to raise money for a new Y were taking much longer than expected. Janneke stepped in and along with a dedicated board of directors, committed volunteers, and strong community support, the fundraising goal was reached and a new Y was built. The organization went from struggling to survive to an organization that is now thriving! Janneke talks about what it takes to lead this thriving organization, including some of the challenges and opportunities, with over 6,500 members, 140 staff, and activities/programming for young kids and families to seniors, to everyone in between.
