Listen "The Practice of Preparation - Week 6 - (4/13/2025)"
Episode Synopsis
As we approach Easter, we're invited to explore the profound lessons of Palm Sunday through Luke's account. This pivotal moment in Jesus' ministry reveals the tension between human expectations and divine purpose. We see the disciples' obedience in retrieving the colt, symbolizing their trust in Jesus' words. Yet, their understanding of His kingship was limited, expecting a conquering Messiah rather than a sacrificial servant. This reminds us to examine our own expectations of God and be open to His true calling in our lives. The image of Jesus weeping over Jerusalem as He approaches highlights the depth of His love and sorrow for those who fail to recognize Him. As we reflect on this, we're challenged to consider: Are we truly seeing Jesus for who He is, or are we, like the crowd, projecting our own desires onto Him? This Easter season, let's prepare our hearts through worship - in obedience, sacrifice, and praise - recognizing Jesus as the humble yet all-powerful King who came to bring true peace. This sermon was first preached April 13th, 2025 at Springfield Church of God by Pastor Jason Mitchell.
